Heritage electric guitars, largely hand-made, evoke a great deal of enthusiasm in the music industry. A favorite of Boz Skaggs and Charlie Daniels, Alex Skolnick and Roy Clark, John Sebastian and Chip Henderson, these six-stringed beauties are made right in Kalamazoo of Michigan maple wood.
Heritage Guitars was founded in 1985 by some ex-employees from the Gibson Guitar factory. Orville Gibson, the father of the Gibson guitar, began making mandolins and guitars in Kalamazoo in the 1880s. Gibson Guitars were made in Kalamazoo at the very same site until the company moved to Nashville, Tenn., in the early 1980s. The Heritage Guitar continues the fine tradition of guitar making in part of the old Gibson manufacturing plant.
You can see a list of the many well-known jazz, rock and roll, country and other artists who endorse Heritage Guitars at this page at Heritage’s own website.
Can't get to Kalamazoo? You can order a solid-, semi-hollow or hollow-body Heritage Guitar online, choosing one of the current models in production. You can even order a customized guitar online, selecting a favorite finish and other details.
With a musical instrument this beloved, you won’t be surprised that there are organizations devoted to loyal Heritage Guitar users. The Heritage Owners Club members make pilgrimages to 225 Parsons St., the Kalamazoo site where exceptional guitars have been crafted for more than a century.
